Polymorphic union of distribution groups, dynamic distribution groups, and unified (M365) groups in one collection.

Parameter In Type Required Description
all query bool (switch) Return all results instead of the EXO default of 1000 per group family. Maps to -ResultSize Unlimited on each backing Get-*Group cmdlet; prevents silent truncation in large tenants.
includeAllProperties query bool (switch) Populate every UnifiedGroup property (CalendarUrl, InboxUrl, PeopleUrl, PhotoUrl, CalendarMemberReadOnly, etc.) that otherwise comes back blank. Maps to -IncludeAllProperties on Get-UnifiedGroup only.
anr query string Ambiguous name resolution: partial-string search over CommonName/DisplayName/FirstName/LastName/Alias. Maps -Anr on Get-DistributionGroup, Get-UnifiedGroup, and Get-DynamicDistributionGroup.
recipientTypeDetails query string Filter distribution groups by subtype. Comma-separated; valid values include MailUniversalDistributionGroup, MailUniversalSecurityGroup, MailNonUniversalGroup, RoomList. List groups (union of DG + M365 + dynamic DG)

Returns the union of all group-shaped recipients: classic distribution groups, M365 (Unified) groups, dynamic distribution groups. The discriminator is RecipientTypeDetails + GroupType. For type-specific operations, use /distributionGroups, /unifiedGroups, /dynamicDistributionGroups respectively.

Notes: Three cmdlets fan out under one URL - slower than the typed endpoints by ~3× for full enumeration but useful when you don’t know the type upfront.

Get a single groups entry by Identity.

Get a group by key

List the members of a group

Section titled “List the members of a group”

Sub-resource of the group at GET /groups/{key} - lists the recipients that belong to the group. Polymorphic: dispatches to Get-DistributionGroupMember, Get-UnifiedGroupLinks -LinkType Members, or Get-DynamicDistributionGroupMember depending on the resolved group type, and projects each member to a recipient.

List the owners of a group

Section titled “List the owners of a group”

Sub-resource of the group at GET /groups/{key} - returns the owners of a group regardless of group type. For Microsoft 365 (unified) groups this maps to Get-UnifiedGroupLinks -LinkType Owners; for distribution, dynamic distribution, and mail-enabled security groups the owners are resolved from the group’s ManagedBy property via Get-Recipient.
